Our Ladys Grotto

Joe Bamford (RIP) Remembered " Every night weather
permitting about twenty men, including my Dad, our
Dick and me used to work on it.  The man in charge
was Mr Billington, a plasterer by trade.

He made the first statue of Our Lady out of concrete,
a rough affair but it served its purpose until we got the
  present one.

Father had visions on another Lourdes.  We were
always having processions and Benediction at the
  Grotto.

On some Sundays afternoons the Children of Mary
used to walk with their bannerette to Todd Lane
Station to meet pilgrims, they would walk in
procession to the Church for a sermon and Benediction.

Afterwards our younger ladies would make tea for our
  visitors in the Hall.
